Dear Colleagues,

I would like to let you know that a new consulting room is available to let in Central London. The room is at the back (quiet) of a mixed-use office building, offering clients the anonymity of attending the premises for many possible reasons. The building has a friendly staffed reception and intercom system, a comfortable waiting area with TV and daily papers, a peaceful outside patio area, a kitchen where clients and practitioners can help themselves to tea, coffee, and filtered water, toilets on each floor, and a lift. The room itself is on the ground floor so quite accessible. It has two large windows and is a comfortable large size. It has it's own remote control heating/air conditioning system. It will be furnished with new leather sofa and armchairs, persian rug, wooden coffee table and desk and a few tasteful pictures/objects.

The room will be available from early March 2010. It is offered on a full-day rental basis (from as early to as late as needed). Room rates have not been set yet but will be moderate, especially given the standard of the furnishing. It is possible for 2 practitioners to share a day.

Some weekdays have already been rented but later weekday and weekend days are still available. We would like to gather a friendly group of practitioners to share the room and possibly cross-refer clients when appropriate.

EXISTENTIAL RESEARCH:

Understanding initiation in your becoming a therapist

Are you a qualified female counselling psychologist or psychotherapist trained from an existential perspective?

Does the concept of initiation resonate with your experience of becoming a therapist?

I am undertaking a qualitative research for the Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology at Regent’s College London, which will investigate the concept of initiation as understood by already qualified female counselling psychologists or psychotherapists, when considering their 'journey' into their professional role and status.

I am currently looking for some additional participants who would be interested in discussing their experience and understanding of what initiation means or meant for them. The interview will last approximately 50 minutes.

I very much look forward to hearing from you if you would like to receive more information or would like to participate:

Many thanks for your interest and help!

Counselling Psychologist in training

Are you a Charted Counselling Psychologist                 working within the NHS?

In contrast to the medical model, counselling psychology springs from the humanistic and existential / phenomenological values arguing for the need to see human beings in a holistic manner.

The philosophical underpinning of Counselling Psychology gives a unique identity to Counselling Psychologist fs raising different questions for Counselling Psychologistfs working within NHS settings:

How do Counselling Psychologists working within the NHS deal with the possible tensions between the medical model, which is the dominant model in the NHS and the Counselling Psychology philosophy? What is their relationship with ‘psychopathology’ i.e. how do they conceptualise and work with it? Is it enough for a Counselling Psychologist to say for example that ‘I don’t work this way?’

So, if you are a Charted Counselling Psychologist working within the NHS and would like to explore your experience with me, please contact me on 07876663065 or email me:

Thank you very much,

TRAUMATIC LOSS STUDY:

ARE YOU INTERESTED IN PARTICIPATING?

I am a 4th year student on the Regent’s College Counselling Psychology Doctorate programme, conducting research on the experience of a sudden, unexpected and untimely death of a loved one. I am now seeking interviewees for my study.

My interest lies in capturing the emotions felt during this loss, and understanding how finding meaning may or may not have played a part in your experience of such a loss.

I am conducting this research because I have a keen interest in understanding how a sudden, unexpected and untimely loss may impact on the way in which existential meaning is experienced.

In order to participate in my research it is important that you experienced this loss after the age of 18 and that you are comfortable enough to discuss this experience in depth.

The interviews will happen at Regent’s College, central London, and should last about one hour. All content will remain confidential.

If you would like to participate in my study I’d be delighted to hear from you. The appropriate recruitment material will then be sent to you.

Please feel free to contact me either via email:

chloe_paidoussis@hotmail.com

or on my mobile 07764 993885

Thank you,

Chloe Paidoussis-Mitchell
