Sunday 14 March 2010:

Inner Circle Seminar No. 150 - Anthony Stadlen

Explores Szasz's most recent book, Antisychiatry: Quackery Squared (2009). The book is a devastating critique of Laing and antipsychiatry, which shows to what extent antipsychiatry has unthinkingly accepted the assumptions of psychiatry itself. Past Inner Circle Seminars have explored in detail the fundamentally important research of Laing and Esterson on how families come to regard one member as "ill". This seminar will seek to distinguish clearly between real achievements such as this and the "quackery squared" that Szasz so accurately delineates and denounces.
